No need to splurge on a pricey bottle. A mid-range bottle of Merlot is dark, fruity and full bodied, which means it can withstand the heat and support all of the flavours.

Simply combine all of the ingredients, cover, and simmer on low heat until the wine is steaming hot (approximately 20 minutes).
